Other Financial Resources for Dairy Farmers

This resource page has information for dairy farmers about other sources of financial support for farming operations. Although there is limited financial support for small farms, it is out there. This resource page will be updated as new information becomes available. You may also want to visit the National Agricultural Library at the USDA (http://afsic.nal.usda.gov) to find the latest information on grants and loans for farmers.

 Farm Service Agency (FSA)

The FSA makes direct and guaranteed farm ownership and operating loans to family-size farmers and ranchers who cannot obtain commercial credit from a bank, Farm Credit System institution, or other lender. FSA loans can be used to purchase land, livestock, equipment, feed, seed, and supplies. Loans can also be used to construct buildings or make farm improvements.  The Farm Credit Council

The Farm Credit Council serves young, beginning, and small farmers.

 First Pioneer Farm Credit, ACA

First Pioneer Farm Credit is a full financial services provider for ag businesses including mortgages, seasonal loans and lines of credit. Makes loans for the purchase, improvement or refinancing of debt on real estate. It also provides financing for expenses associated with the production, processing, and marketing of food and fiber, as well as for equipment, facilities and livestock.
They also offer equipment leases, record-keeping, tax planning and preparation, appraisals, business consulting, and multi-peril crop insurance.

 Yankee Farm Credit, ACA

Yankees Farm Credit is a financial services cooperative for people involved in all aspects of agriculture. Makes loans for the purchase, improvement or refinancing of debt on real estate. It also provides financing for expenses associated with the production, processing, and marketing of food and fiber, as well as for equipment, facilities and livestock. Loans come in many forms – long-term mortgage loans, operating loans, equipment loans, lines of credit and personal loans, with fixed and variable rates.
They also offer financial record-keeping, tax planning and preparation, payroll services, appraisal services, equipment leases, credit life insurance, and mortgage financing for rural homeowners.

 Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES)
