MicroCredit-NH’s Business Builders Program helps self-employed persons and small business owners in Sullivan County develop their businesses, expand economic opportunity and enhance the quality of jobs. Business Builders program has been created with financial support from the USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant.
The Business Builders program will include monthly day-long sessions for entrepreneurs who are growing their businesses. Each participant will create and implement a strategic plan for business sustainability, growth and success by:
- Learning business and leadership skills from role-model entrepreneurs and business professionals
- Having the option of investing in their businesses by applying for loans of up to $15,000, or by participating in the Individual Development Account matched savings program (for those who meet income guidelines)
- Receiving peer support and feedback through the sharing of ideas and experiences
- Integrating mission and vision into all aspects of business operations
Each participant will learn and use cutting-edge techniques to build a solid foundation for positioning their business for resiliency and growth, making valuable business connections and increasing sales. For further information, see Business Builders Frequently Asked Questions.
Eligibility
Businesses with up to five full-time employees (the US Small Business Administration definition of micro-business) are eligible to apply, as are entrepreneurs with a business idea. Individuals must reside or have a business in Sullivan County. Up to 12 entrepreneurs will be chosen to participate. You must commit to attending all sessions.
Submission
To apply, send:
- Cover letter giving your reasons for wanting to participate, what you hope to achieve, and how this program will help you to improve and grow your business.
- Business Builders Program application
If complete, include your current business plan or MicroCredit-NH Business Profile, including 12 months of previous or projected financial statements
Applicants may be asked to submit additional information. All information will be held confidential by MicroCredit-NH staff and the selection committee.
Review process
MicroCredit-NH staff evaluate application materials. All decisions are final. Entrepreneurs not selected to participate in this program are encouraged to contact MicroCredit-NH to see how we may provide other services and support for you and your business.
