Calling all artists: Artists Exchange is Nov. 6 at SNHU

Artists and artisans in southern and central New Hampshire won't want to miss our next Artist Exchange Nov. 6 at Southern NH University in Manchester.

Author and humorist Rebecca Rule will kick off a day-long training designed to leave participants with valuable marketing and financial management tools.

Click over to our ArtWorks-NH page for  details.

Sullivan County Business Builders kicks off Sept. 14

A dozen Sullivan County entrepreneurs committed to growing their businesses will launch MicroCredit-NH’s first Business Builders program Sept. 14 in Claremont.

The Business Builders will meet monthly for seven months to learn business, financial and personal management skills and marketing techniques, all aimed at the creation of a strategic business plan.

The program is modeled after MicroCredit-NH’s successful Coos County Entrepreneurial Program and partially funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Rural Business Enterprise Grant program.

    Update your Marketplace profile
    – and grab a seat at the Sylvania 300!

If you’re a MicroCredit-NH member who hasn’t completed or updated your business profile in the MicroCredit-NH Marketplace, you’re missing the opportunity to reach 19,000 businesses with your goods or services.

Here's an incentive to get into the
Marketplace today! All MicroCredit-NH members who have posted an updated profile to the Marketplace by next Thursday, Sept. 10, will be entered into a drawing to receive a pair of tickets to the Sylvania 300 NASCAR race Sept. 20 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Four pairs of tickets will be given away. If you have questions on how to update your Marketplace profile, please contact your Regional Manager.

    Choices and decisions

We make choices and decisions every day: Do you want fries with that?  Paper or plastic?  What will you wear to work? What will you eat for supper?

Then there are the choices and decisions you make for your business. Will you attend a networking event to gain new contacts? Will you take an Advanced Training class to develop an area of your business? Will you create a meaningful budget and separate your personal and business finances? Will you analyze the market to better understand your competition?

Some decisions are difficult. Others require a greater time commitment. But every business decision should move you closer to your business goal.  If you want a successful, thriving business, what choices would make that happen?

A great motivator – in one session

"I think the first Advanced Training session was on target and a great motivator. I was slacking off, working toward my goals at a slow pace. The training made me realize my goals need some tweaking. That includes updating my communication networking on Twitter and Facebook.  And that was just the first session!"

    -- Vicki DeLalla,
    CNW Creations & Weaving Studio

MicroCredit-NH's Advanced Trainings are underway in four areas of New Hampshire, click here to learn more.

    Gale River is environmental champ

Gale River Motel  has been recognized as an  Environmental Champion by the NH Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program for its industry leadership in environmental initiatives.

The motel, operated by Kevin Johnson of the Missions Possible business group in Franconia, has committed to environmental actions in five areas; energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, hazardous waste reduction and education.

The Gale River Motel uses energy efficient lighting in 98% of its fixtures. Window draperies with southern exposure are left open in the winter to allow light to warm the rooms, while northern drapes are closed. The motel replaces appliances, as needed, with Energy Star models, and this spring became the first motel in the state to install a solar hot water system.

A rainwater collection system provides water for a garden irrigation system. Gale River also employs composting, double-sided printing, reusable mugs in guestrooms, furniture reuse or donation, and the reuse of downgraded guestroom towels to pool towels or cleaning rags to reduce waste.

We're proud to have a MicroCredit-NH member recognized as an environmental leader!

How are you working it out?
    Tell NHPR ...

Here's a free and easy way to promote your business. New Hampshire Public Radio has a Web project called Working It Out that asks NH residents to post their responses to this question:

"How has this economy changed life for you, your family, your household, or your business?"

You can respond through an online form on the NHPR site. Your response will be linked to a map with others' stories from all around the state.

If you tell your story, please enter MicroCredit-NH in the Keywords box on the bottom of the form. This will connect your stories with those of other MicroCredit-NH members, and will help us promote our services!
