Tara started working at MicroCredit-NH in February,
2005. Previously, she was the Marketing & Public
Relations Manager at RiverWoods at Exeter, a non-profit
retirement community. There, she initiated a public
relations program that included featuring the spirit of
volunteerism that pervaded resident life – and the
resulting positive impact residents had within the
RiverWoods community, as well as throughout the
Seacoast. Tara's experience also includes private and
non-profit public relations and development work in the
Boston area.
As a member of the MicroCredit-NH team, Tara
implements marketing and public relations initiatives to
increase statewide program membership and awareness, and
to enhance services currently available to
MicroCredit-NH members.
Tara holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications,
with a minor in Irish Studies, from Boston College. She
resides in Manchester, and is a volunteer publicist for
the Dover Adult Learning Center of Strafford County.
Before joining MicroCredit-NH in April 2000, Janet
served as Executive Director of Newfound Economic
Development Corporation (NEDC), where she worked with
communities, businesses and schools to foster economic
development opportunities in the Newfound Lake Region of
NH. Programs at NEDC included partnership with the
Newfound Area School District to develop a main street
business for at-risk students to obtain on-the-job
training in bicycle repair, retail management and
customer service; a community website initiative with
development and design performed by high school
students; and other school-to-work collaboratives. Other
business niche markets were served by specialized forums
and programming such as “Artists and Artisans” and
“Women in Business.” At NEDC, Janet most enjoyed her
consultant work with business start-ups as they
developed business plans, so that they might secure
financing to achieve their business dreams. “It is a
great feeling when you see the little successes along
the way bring such great joy,” explains Janet. At
MicroCredit-NH, she continues this work by facilitating
workshops and providing support and resources to
business group members in her region.
As MicroCredit-NH Director, Dave is responsible for managing the development of the program, including strategic planning, program development, evaluation, finances, and grant opportunities. He also serves as MicroCredit-NH spokesperson. Dave works closely with the MicroCredit-NH Team to provide access to capital, business education and skills, access to markets, and networking and peer support to microenterprises accross New Hampshire.
Dave has over 20 years of business experience in financial services, marketing and advertising, management, and non-profit organizations. Dave also has experience as a microenterprise business person, operating his own full-service marketing company for several years. He earned his BA at the University of New Hampshire and holds an MBA, with concentrations in Marketing and Finance, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dave is a Board member of the NH JumpStart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. He lives with his family in Manchester and enjoys history, skiing, hiking, and kayaking.
David brings a diverse background of experiences with him to MicroCredit-NH. Prior to joining the team in February of 2006, David was the Business Manager of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Nashua. He served in that capacity for over 11 years, and his responsibilities included budgeting, income and expense control, staff direction and facilities management. But he's not all about the numbers. David is accustomed to serving others, and is in tune with the human dimension of fostering relationships.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from Franklin Pierce College, and a Master of Arts degree from Notre Dame College. He resides in Merrimack with his wife, Janet, and carries out assigned duties as a Permanent Deacon as his time permits.
Shellyn joined MicroCredit-NH in September of 2006. She is responsible for data reporting, website management and facilitating the Individual Development Account Program (IDA).
Shellyn formerly worked in the hospitality industry for a leading provider of reservation services in Dallas, Texas. As an Account Executive, she gained experience with customer relations, technical assistance and reporting.
Shellyn has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Psychology. She graduated from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. She currently resides in Manchester, NH where she was raised.
As South East Regional Manager for MicroCredit-NH, Jennifer manages business groups in the Seacoast area, in addition to fostering business skill development among artists through the "ArtWorks-NH" program. She also maintains partnerships with local, regional and state economic and community development organizations in the Seacoast region.
Prior to her work with MicroCredit-NH, Jennifer was employed in the Manufactured Housing Park Program of the NH Community Loan Fund. She worked in the affordable housing sector, where she counseled consumers on their credit reports, edited newsletters, organized special projects and planned statewide conferences.
Jennifer has Bachelors Degree with a special concentration in literature, film and art from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. While an undergraduate at UNH, Jennifer worked as a crisis advocate with the Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program (SHARPP), a non-profit organization with a mission to prevent violence and assault in the community through public awareness and education.
She is a member of Toastmasters International, a professional public speaking club. Jennifer is also an artist and writer, primarily contributing her work to travel publications.
Claudia joined MicroCredit-NH in January 2006. Claudia formerly served as Business Development Director at Cranmore Mountain Resort. Her duties included training and development, coaching, and overseeing the implementation of corporate business strategies. In 1993, Claudia and her husband moved from southern Massachusetts to North Conway, where they bought a bed and breakfast that they successfully operated for almost nine years. In past careers, Claudia taught elementary school, worked in banking, and was a sales representative in the gift and publishing industries.
Claudia was a founding Board member for the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation, whose primary fundraising event is the Polar Express. She has also served as Secretary for the Mount Washington Valley Arts Association. A graduate of Bridgewater State College with a degree in Psychology, Claudia is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Organization and Management at Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene. She will graduate in May 2007.
Joyce Presby brings a diverse set of skills to the MicroCredit-NH team. Before working for MicroCredit-NH, she owned her own business, The Xchange Connection. She was one of the first WREN graduates; a member of the Board of Directors of WREN; and a member of a Working Capital (now MicroCredit-NH) peer-lending group, WRENa$ense.
Joyce has also been employed by a Fortune 500 company, Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett Packard) in Merrimack, where she worked with Software Documentation and Licensing for seven years. Previous experience also includes temporary services in medical, dental, plastic making, manufacturing and statistical analysis, with a concentration in accounting and bookkeeping. She holds a Bachelors degree in Management Advisory Services from New Hampshire College and an Associates degree from Mohegan Community College.
MicroCredit-NH provides Joyce a chance to use the skills she acquired in college and to share her knowledge with those eager to develop their businesses. With four children now pursuing their own careers, Joyce has time to blend work with her favorite recreational activities, including skiing, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
